What is Salvation?
Salvation is deliverance by the grace of God from the danger of sufferings caused by eternal punishment for sin. To be saved is to be delivered or protected. The word conveys victory, health, protection, preservation, deliverance and prosperity.
What are we saved from?
We are saved from “wrath,” that is, from God’s judgment of sin (Romans 5:9 1 Thessalonians 5:9). Our sin has separated us from God, and the consequence of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Biblical salvation refers to our deliverance from the consequence of sin and therefore involves the removal of sin.
How does God Save Us?
God has rescued us through Christ (John 3:17). Specifically, it was Jesus’ death on the cross and subsequent resurrection that achieved our salvation (Romans 5:10 Ephesians 1:7). Scripture is clear that salvation is the gracious, undeserved gift of God (Ephesians 2:5, 8) and is only available through faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12).
How do we receive salvation?
We are saved by grace through faith, which is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8). The Bible says “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you WILL be saved for it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. (Romans 10:9-10). "Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD WILL be saved." (Romans 10:13).
So as you can see, contrary to denominational religious demands all you have to simply do in order to be saved is confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and at that moment you are considered saved!
- You may not feel different and that is OK, “remember” you are not saved because of your feelings you are saved because of the “Grace” of God.
- Find a Bible believing, Bible teaching church so that you may learn about the benefits that you have in Christ.
- Don’t try to change yourself before you attend church because you can’t… That is why we have a Savior (Jesus). He will change whatever needs to be changed in you if necessary. Come As You Are!
